What is Wrong and What went wrong?

Sin is a powerfully destructive force in the world. However, it’s important to remember the impact is felt not only by those around us, but it deeply affects the heart of God. Sins greatest impact is in our relationship with God. Not only do we fail to cherish and enjoy him, but our rebellion against him earns us the wages of sin: death and eternal separation from him Romans, 6:23. For the wages of sin is death. When we understand the holiness of God, we understand why scripture says God hates sin. Sin, damages us, our lives in our relationship with God.

“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the Lord. But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge.”

Psalms 14:1-6 NIV

Most of us have heard the story of Adam and Eve in the very beginning of the human race.

Most people have heard about Eve being tricked by the evil spirit who tempted Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit.

Listen,

God created humans to have a personal relationship with Him face to face.

Exodus 33

“The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.”

Exodus 33:11 NIV

In the New Testament Jesus said:

“You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”

John 15:14-15 NIV

One thing that most people miss about the story of Adam and Eve, is how God was friends with them.

God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the Garden of Eden to enjoy life with plenty of food to stay healthy.

Interesting fact: Adam and Eve didn’t need to pull weeds in order to reap a great harvest. Their friend God took care of all their needs.

In Genesis Chapter 3 verses 1-19 Adam and Eve spent time together in the Garden of Eden without knowledge of nakedness.  They were both righteous friends with God.  The Bible doesn’t really say how long they were in the Garden of Eden until the Evil Serpent approached Eve and tempted her to eat of the fruit of knowledge. In the beginning humans lived over 900 years, so it is possible Adam and Eve could have been living in paradise for numerous years.

Then, one day the Evil Serpent approached Eve with the idea that eating the Fruit from a certain tree would be healthier and allow them to have more knowledge and be like their friend God.

In the cool of the day God was walking toward Adam and Eve in the garden and they hid themselves due to their nakedness.  God said to them, “how do
